Meet the Women of PWB: Karen Kassik-Michelsohn
As one of the few female builders in Anchorage, Karen Kassik-Michelsohn is passionate about getting other women involved in the construction industry. As one of the founding members of the AHBA Professional Women in Building Council, Kassik-Michelsohn believes PWB a valuable resource for the Anchorage community because it brings together a network of talented business professionals.
The organization’s main focus will be to help mentor young women interested in the industry. By mentoring a new generation of women in the industry, Kassik-Michelsohn hopes to help young women begin their careers and build a workforce for Alaska.
Kassik-Michelsohn is an award-winning designer with over 30 years' experience. Her career began in 1987 in Florida with Lucia Custom Home Designers, Inc. In 2010, Kassik-Michelsohn became the vice president of Michelsohn & Daughter Construction in Anchorage.
Kassik-Michelsohn specializes in custom home and remodeling design. She is also serving as the president of the Anchorage Home Builders Association, and received the “Builder of the Year” award in 2016.
The cost to become a member is $75 per year ($50 to NAHB and $25 to fund events at the local level).
